WEDDINGS
A WEDDING IS A MOMENT, MARRIAGE
IS A LIFETIME
A wedding is the celebration of the highest we know in love,
the pledging of the deepest fidelity, the expression of the highest aspiration, and the new beginning of the rest of your life with the one you love.
We believe a wedding is not a spectacle, but worship, and a participation in the will of God for life.
WE WOULD LOVE TO HELP YOU PLAN AND
CELEBRATE YOUR WEDDING.
FAQs
SCHEDULING AND PLANNING YOUR WEDDING
Our Wedding Coordinator is Carrie Cross. She will be your guide and help throughout the entire planning process for any wedding held at the church. (Does not include destination weddings.)
Carrie will work with you with all details of the wedding service, ushering, and seating arrangements, and is present at both the rehearsal and the wedding.
You will also meet two-three times with the pastor. Those meetings allow the pastor to get to know you so that she can make the service reflect who you are, and you will plan the service together.
Please contact the wedding coordinator, Carrie Cross, at 402-477-6037 or email her at churchadmin@fpclinoln.org, to talk more about holding your wedding at First Presbyterian Church.
SERVICE LOCATIONS
SANCTUARY
Our traditional sanctuary seats about 450 people, which includes the main floor level, and three balconies, two in front and one in the back.
We have a center aisle that is made for weddings!
COURTYARD
In nice weather, our courtyard can host small weddings and seats about 40 people.
DESTINATION / OFF SITE WEDDINGS
God isn’t confined to a building! Let’s talk about where you’d like to get married. After all, our pastor got married in a zoo!
WHO OFFICIATES AT WEDDINGS?
Weddings are ordinarily officiated by the Lead Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Rev. Dr. Sue Coller.
MUSIC
What is your music style?
Some couples just want the processional and recessional music, others want music in the service itself. Some love traditional organ music, others love hip-hop, Latin, jazz, or country. Whatever your style, we’ll work with you.
We have a world-class organ and organist who is available to play for your wedding. We have a beautiful grand piano as well.
If you desire any vocal or instrumental soloists or groups, you may arrange for them.
Couples do wonder about any limits on music – all we ask is that it be in good taste, after all, this is a worship service.
No matter what, this is your special day, and we want to work with you to make this wedding service not only a celebration of your love and God’s gift, we want this to reflect who you are as well.
PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEOGRAPHY
We want you to have the best photos and videos of your day that you can have. At the same time, we recognize that a wedding is a worship service, and we want to honor that as well.
We honor the worship service by asking photo/videographers to refrain from flash photography or moving around the sanctuary once the service has begun, as flash and movement can destroy the spirit of the service.
Often couples will have two photo/videographers, which allows them to be in different places to capture different moments and angles during the service.
We do have a multi-camera video recording setup in our sanctuary. If you would like the services of our videographer to record your wedding ceremony, please talk to the Wedding Coordinator. This would depend on the availability of our videographer.
CAN MY PET PARTICIPATE?
We love our pets, and we want them to be a part of our special day. Some want their pet to be the ring bearer, some simply want to have them walk down the aisle as part of the wedding party. However, not all pets are appropriate to participate in wedding ceremonies.
Talk with our Wedding Coordinator about our policy regarding pets taking part in wedding services.
RECEPTIONS
If you would like the convenience of holding your reception at the church, we have a hall that seats about 140 guests around round tables, or a capacity of 200 without tables for a standing reception.
We are an alcohol-free campus.

FUNERALS
A CELEBRATION OF
LIFE AND FAITH
Christians recognize with all people the inevitability of death, but Christians affirm that “neither death, nor life, … nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39) Yet trust in the love and power of God does not eliminate the grief that accompanies a loved one’s death.
If you would like the comfort of having a service for your loved one at First Presbyterian Church, we will be happy to work with you.

MUSIC
What is your music style?

We have a world-class organ and organist who is available to play for your funeral. We have a beautiful grand piano as well.
If you desire any vocal or instrumental soloists or groups, you may arrange for them.
