LEADERSHIP RESOURCES

GOD'S PEOPLE ARE CALLED TO VOCATION

First, we are called to discipleship – to follow and serve Jesus Christ. That call begins with baptism, and is reiterated and developed over a lifetime. Each Christian is called by God to service, and some are called to leadership. Differentiating this call from election to the city council or the School Board is critical. [People elected to the Ordered Ministries] of the church (Ruling Elder, Deacon, Minister of Word and Sacrament) do not ‘sign up’ for some committee work or simply volunteer.

The call of God is both internal and external – and it is life-changing.

The Session Ref:

A Training Film

A mock session helps us understand how meetings can be run more smoothly. NOTE: Two violations were made, no flag was thrown for either: 1) The motion to table the issue of fixing the organ. The correct motion would be to postpone indefinitely. 2) The discussion following the motion to table. including the maker's explanation. A motion to table, unlike a motion to postpone indefinitely, is not debatable.

Opening Doors to Discipleship

An online series of four courses in the Presbyterian reformed tradition to help leaders be effective in their ministries. While the courses are geared toward those in teaching ministries of the church, several of the modules are very appropriate for those serving as ruling elders. (Note: click on a door to “enter”. On some there is a video. Others, at the bottom of the page before the footer, you will find three lines – that is a menu. Click on that and you can explore that particular module.)
