The Power of Spirituals Webinar
April 25 7:00 - 9:00 pm | Zoom
A Look a the History, Context, and Meaning behind Spirituals
The African American Spirituals were more than just religious songs being sung in the fields, they were powerful songs of hope and remembrance; they were songs pointing the way to freedom and more.
Join us on Sunday, April 25th at 7:00 pm for a live Zoom webinar with Dr. Everett McCorvey of the The American Spiritual Ensemble as he shares with us the history, context and hidden messages in spirituals, and how they still speak to us today in our present world.
This is a joint event by the Christian Education and Arts for the Soul ministries of First Presbyterian Church.
This will be followed up the next week on May 2nd at 7:00 pm with a virtual concert featuring the American Spiritual Ensemble Choir.
Dr. McCorvey is the founder and director of The American Spiritual Ensemble as well as Endowed Chair in Opera Studies/Director of Opera and Professor of Voice at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky.
