The Inn: Housing the Holy

Our Advent/Christmas theme invites us to make more room in "The Inn" of our lives for compassion and hospitality to bring more hope, peace, love, and joy to the world.

We know the rhythms of life fluctuate wildly these days and so we have several rhythms of worship for you to choose from, each opportunity based on the content of our worship theme. So no matter how you engage, you will find a meaningful time of connecting with the Holy so that you can experience "making room" in your life for feeding and caring for your spiritual self and finding a way to offer your love to others.

And always remember that our Stephen's ministry team and pastoral staff are ready to connect with you for a phone call, Zoom meeting, or visit (if safe) should you need to connect outside of any of our planned activities. You belong. You are loved. You are not alone! Click the "Contact Us" button below to get in touch.

Blue Christmas Worship Service

Not everyone is joyful at Christmas – some are overwhelmed, some are grieving losses, some are simply not “feeling it.”

Southern Heights Presbyterian Church is hosting a service of HOPE for any and all (joyous or overwhelmed)  on Tuesday, December 21st at 7 pm.  This will be a candlelight service of readings, music, quiet reflection and well-being.  (Note this is NOT held at First Presbyterian Church.)

This event is past, however know that whatever you’re feeling this Christmas is OK, and you are loved.

Advent Through the Eyes of Those Who Waited

Sundays, Nov. 28 – Dec. 19 @ 9 am

The Advent study prepares us for the Christmas season by introducing us to several biblical characters who waited for God.  The prophets in the book of Isaiah present us with the idea of waiting and preparing for the Messiah–our work for Advent. John the Baptist announces the coming of the Messiah. Mary, the mother of Jesus, teaches us about patience and courage.  Elizabeth teaches us about how to accept a blessing so long in coming that it is no longer expected.

This study is done, but head over too the events page for more classes!

Housing the Holy Dinner Groups
Housing the Holy Dinner Groups
Worship during Advent can be experienced around a table.  Our theme:  The Inn:  Housing the Holy,  reminds us to make room in our “inns” for support and relationship.
(This is past this year, but look for more opportunities in the new year!)

Daily Devotion Resources

As a gift to you, we offer you a book of daily devotions written by members and friends of First Presbyterian Church, with Sunday devotions written by Marcia McFee, worship consultant and professor at San Francisco Theological Seminary. May they enrich your experience of Advent and Christmas, and through them, may you carry the Holy with you throughout the new year.

Do you have children? Download our weekly Children & Family Devotion Booklet to enrich their experience and understanding of this special season.
