<p>We will not wear robes; casual dress: dark pants/skirt, light shirt. The music will be easy to learn in the short rehearsal time before church. This would be a great way for new people to give it a try!</p>
<p>It would be helpful for both groups, but especially for the bell Sunday if you would let Brian Pfoltner know in advance if you plan to come.Email at musicdir@fpclincoln.org or call 402-477-6037</p>

Just weeks after a performance for President Obama and Prime Minister Kenny of Ireland at the Capital in Washington D.C., <strong><a href="http://www.anthonykearns.net/">Anthony Kearns</a></strong>, founding member of <strong>The Irish Tenors</strong>, will sing at First Presbyterian Church, 840 South 17th St. in Lincoln, NE, as part of the <em><strong>Arts for the Soul</strong></em> Music &amp; Fine Arts Series.</p>
<p>Said Kearns: “What a special time for me, to have the honor to sing for both President Obama and Ireland’s Prime Minister Kenny! It was both humbling and thrilling.”</p>
<p>First Presbyterian’s <em><strong>Arts for the Soul</strong></em> Music &amp; Fine Arts Series is pleased to close this season with an artist of such international fame. “I’m delighted to sing for First Presbyterian’s concert series; I’ve heard good things and look forward to being in that beautiful church.”</p>
<p><strong>To hear Anthony Kearns <!-- or to buy tickets --> <a href="http://fpclincoln.org/music-home/arts-for-the-soul/anthony-kearns/">Click Here.</a></strong></p>
<p>Kearns, who hails from County Wexford in Ireland, and still bases in Dublin, has been touring with The Irish Tenors for well over a decade; this enduring trio has reached near rock star status as one of Ireland’s most popular touring groups, second only to U2. Anthony also has a thriving solo concert career, and has appeared in many operas internationally in coveted lead-tenor roles, garnering consistently high praise. Quoted the British magazine Opera Now of his performance in Ireland as Don Ottavio in Lismore Opera’s production of Don Giovanni, “Kearns’s beautifully spun Il mio tesoro was a moment of still beauty.”</p>
<p>In January, Kearns was involved in the U.S. Inaugural weekend celebrations. He was invited by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dempsey, to perform at a brunch for Medal of Honor recipients, performed at the inaugural ball hosted by Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, and was then invited to attend the actual swearing-in ceremony as an honored VIP guest. Commented Kearns, “It was a great experience to be involved in the Inaugural events; I was honored to be there.”</p>
<p>Just one year ago, Kearns appeared at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston at an event celebrating the Kennedy family’s Irish Roots. “That was special for me.” Kearns said, “Being from County Wexford, where the Kennedy’s hail from, it was especially meaningful to have been asked to perform for that event.”</p>
<p>Carrying on the tradition of one of Ireland’s most famous tenors, John McCormack, Kearns’s solo repertoire runs the spectrum brilliantly from Ireland to Broadway, from Classical to Sacred, and includes some of the world’s best loved songs.</p>
<p>Kearns brings his longtime accompanist, fellow Irishman Patrick Healy. “Patrick is a gem,” said Kearns, “He’s the real deal. He plays piano brilliantly, he sings, he writes songs, and he tells jokes with the best of them!”</p>

<div></div>
<div>Thank you so much to the congregation for supporting the children&#8217;s effort to help the East Coast Animal League! The children are so excited that they are able to help these homeless animals, a way for them to learn how to spread God&#8217;s love across the country.  We are still collecting donations for the Capital Humane Society&#8211;so if you have extra shoeboxes, trash bags, or jars of peanut butter, the animals will sure appreciate it!!</div>
<div></div>
<div>In the next couple of months, the children will be working on more mission projects, and they need your help!!  If you would like to help lead our young people to a life of serving, please volunteer!  Children&#8217;s mission time is from 9:45-10:00 on Sunday mornings.</div>
<div></div>
<div>
<div><strong>Spring is in the Air!!</strong></div>
<div></div>
<div>With the arrival of warmer weather (hopefully <img src='http://fpclincoln.org/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> comes thinking about the great outdoors!  The children will be finding time to visit the Grow Ground again on Sunday mornings to learn about God&#8217;s creation.  Additionally, the children will be adopting a garden plot again this year with the Community Crops garden across the street.  We will be working hard in the next month to get both of these places looking great so that we can teach our kids about taking care of our wonderful world.</div>
<div></div>
<div>Here is a wish list, if you have any of the following, please consider donating!</div>
<div> Grow Ground:</div>
<div>* trees, plants and seeds</div>
<div>* mulch</div>
<div>* spray paint and acrylic paint</div>
<div>* wooden planter boxes</div>
<div>* natural art items (shells, pinecones, large seeds, etc.)</div>
<div>* garden hose</div>
<div>* additional rain barrel</div>
<div>* contributions towards completing the wooden fence</div>
<div></div>
<div></div>
<div>Garden Plot:</div>
<div>* starter plants of all kinds</div>
<div>* inexpensive decorative garden items (geared towards kids&#8211;bugs, frogs, etc.)</div>
<div>* tomato cages</div>
<div></div>
<div>Additionally, if you or anyone you know is a Master Gardener in the Lincoln area, we would love your expertise on the Grow Ground and Garden Plot!  Contact Steph if you&#8217;re interested!</div>
<div></div>
<div></div>
<div><strong>Save the date&#8230;..</strong></div>
<div>VBS 2013 is scheduled for July 7-10</div>
<div>Sunday through Wednesday, 9am-noon; with a family celebration Wednesday, July 10 @ 6pm</div>
