Join us at 7 pm, March 6, for a special Ash Wednesday Worship Service.
This service marks the beginning of Lent, a time of reflection, preparation, and contemplation in anticipation of Easter and the celebration of Jesus Christ’s resurrection.
During the service we will have a time of prayer, a time for music, and a time for reflection on scripture. The centerpiece of the service is the imposition of ashes on our foreheads. This is an ancient tradition that harkens back to the the use of ashes to make one’s repentance for things done or not done, said or not said, that do not reflect God’s image in us – God’s grace and love for the world, and for ourselves. In marking ourselves with ashes, we acknowledge that our lives are not always in sync with who God is and God’s desires for us and how we live in the world. In worship, we give thanks for God’s eternal and unconditional forgiveness, and begin again with a fresh start to devote ourselves to live holy and gracious lives.
This service is open for all people – members, friends, and guests.
